The Plate Fund

Schultz Family Foundation

In the midst of the global pandemic, the Schultz Family Foundation turned to Sid Lee to support the rapid launch of a non-profit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to restaurant and food service workers in the severely impacted greater Seattle area.

The Plate Fund was created to help the tens of thousands of King County restaurant industry employees impacted by the pandemic, many of whom had little to no financial security blanket or ability to pay for essentials like groceries, medicine and other daily necessities.

In less than two weeks, we’ve stepped in to develop a new brand identity and partner with the Plate Fund team to promote and launch a brand that came to life through a new site, a number of physical activations, local partnerships and social media initiatives.
The fund, created by the Schultz Family Foundation in partnership with community leaders, launched with $4 million in seed funding. Within 3 weeks of the launch, it helped over 7,600 restaurant workers and raised an additional $3.8M to provide ongoing emergency payments to those in need.
